Post Spring Break Rejuvenation

We all anxiously await Spring Break. It’s one of the most exciting times of year because most of us are headed home or to warmer places. However, when spring break ends do you ever find yourself saying something like “Ugh”? This feeling  can be attributed to the amount of food you ate, the amount you drank, the amount of time you were in the sun or  this feeling can be attributed to all three.  Well don’t  fear because I’m going to provide you with some tips on how to detox, rejuvenate and have you feeling back to normal in no time.

Spending so much time in the sun can be  damaging to those roots. Surprisingly, that beer you might have consumed on spring break is fantastic for your hair. The hops and malts in beer are composed of proteins which bond the individual hairs.  I actually did this procedure last night and my hair feels amazing.

How do you use beer for great hair?

First, shampoo your hair and rinse in the shower. Then, while in the shower, take that beer and pour it over your head. (I know its sounds like you’re heading back to spring break, right?)

Second, let it sit there for a minute or two. (This process works best in the shower, because while you’re letting your hair soak up that Beer Rinse, you can make sure the excess beer gets rinsed off your shoulders, arms, hands, etc.  This isn’t the neatest process I’ve tried.)

Fourth, rinse the beer thoroughly. It’s best to let the hair air dry after this procedure.

Note: Do this process up to once a week!

Surprisingly, olive oil is one of the best natural ingredients we can use for our face. By using the right oils, you can replace dirt with beneficial oils. Just think of it this way, bad oil replaces good  oil that keeps your skin hydrated and smooth.  Simple Mom describes the oil cleansing method more in-depth in her blog.

Normal Skin:  you could start off with a one-tone ratio of castor oil and olive oil

Acne Prone Skin:  reduce the proportion of olive oil and do three parts castor oil and on part olive oil

Dry Skin: start off with one part castor oil to three parts olive oil

Gently rub the mixture into your face. Grab a warm wash cloth and put it over your face for about a minute. Wash the mixture off your face. Your skin will automatically feel softer.

When I did it, my skin immediately felt softer and less tight from all the sun over spring break.

This is where the word “ugh” really might come into play. Usually our livers take the biggest tole while on spring break. We eat too much. We drink too much. Our livers are essential to function. The liver operates like a filtering mechanism, breaking down fat and cleaning out substances that can harm the body. If the liver fails to function properly, an assortment of complications can result affecting the body such as digestions, energy levels and weight gain. If the liver is malfunctioning, the body is unable to perform its regular duties.

How to Cleanse the Liver

Lemon Water: This little change in your daily habit can make huge differences. It aids in digestions, waste excretion and it promotes the immune system and heart health. Drink this as much as you want and reap the benefits.

Master Cleanse:( Do this for 3- 7 days)  I like to call it a master cleanse because it really flushes all the toxins out of your liver in order for it to function properly again. Remember, a liver is essential to metabolize fat and many other process in the body.

  • As much lemon or lime juice as you desire( fresh squeezed)
  • agave syrup at one tablespoon
  • a pinch of cinnamon
  • water ( 8-12 oz)
  • cayenne pepper( this is optional but it adds nice flavor especially if you like spice)

Check out how to make this drink into a refreshing lemonade slushy here.

Note: Don’t consume any other food for the period of time that you do the cleanse. If you feel hungry, that is natural because your body is cleansing out all the toxins and weaning you off of cravings. If you have to eat, consume raw fruits, vegetables and nuts.

I can tell you from experience, that this cleanse works. I felt better, clearer and noticed differences in my body. This is one of the best cleanses to do to get your liver back on track  and functioning properly. I hope you have gained some valuable information about rejuvenating your body after spring break. Remember, all these things are great for your body at anytime. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment !
